Stem Cell Therapy: A Reset for the Immune System
Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation (HSCT) is an emerging treatment that aims to āresetā the immune system in people with Multiple Sclerosis .
HSCT involves collecting your own stem cells, wiping out the faulty immune system with chemotherapy, and then reinfusing the stem cells to help build a new, healthier immune response. The goal? To stop MS progression and prevent further relapses or damage.

ā What the Research Shows
Up to 83% of patientsĀ had no new disease activity two years after HSCT
71% showed no worsening of disability even 10 years later
Some patients experienced major improvementsĀ in quality of life and function
ā ļø What to Consider
HSCT is not currently FDA-approved for MSĀ (outside of clinical trials)
Itās a serious medical procedureĀ with risks, including infections and immune suppression
It can be expensive and is usually done at accredited centers in places like Mexico, Russia, the UK, and the US (in trials)
šÆ Bottom Line
HSCT offers hope for long-term remission, but itās not for everyone. It's important to weigh the risks and benefits, speak with your medical team, and be fully informed before making a decision.
